About Pamukkale

Why go to Pamukkale

Pamukkale, meaning cotton castle, is a hillside of white terraces formed by warm mineral water, with shallow pools you can walk through barefoot. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Hierapolis, the Roman spa city at the top.

Explore the ruins and the theatre of Hierapolis, then swim among fallen marble columns in the Antique Pool. Stay for sunset, when the terraces turn pink and gold. It fits well between Ephesus and Cappadocia.

Pamukkale questions

Can I walk on the terraces?
Yes, barefoot and only on the marked paths, to protect the stone. Bring a towel and something for your shoes.
Is one night enough?
Yes. One night lets you see the terraces at sunset and early morning, when they are quietest.
