Skip to contentThe rose-red city carved into the cliffs by the Nabataeans.
Petra was the capital of the Nabataean kingdom more than two thousand years ago, and today it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the New Seven Wonders of the World. You enter through the Siq, a narrow canyon that suddenly opens onto the Treasury, carved straight into the rock.
Beyond it lie the Street of Facades, the Royal Tombs, the theatre and, up around 800 steps, the Monastery. On selected evenings Petra by Night lights the Siq and the Treasury with candles. We plan it with a licensed local guide, at your pace.
