About The Dead Sea

Why go to The Dead Sea

The shore of the Dead Sea lies more than 400 metres below sea level, the lowest point on land. Its water is so salty that you float without trying, and its mineral-rich mud is famous for the skin. Resorts along the shore make it an easy place to rest at the end of a trip.

Nearby are Mount Nebo, with its view over the Jordan Valley, the Byzantine mosaics of Madaba and the Baptism Site at Bethany Beyond the Jordan. It is only around an hour from Amman.

The Dead Sea questions

Yes, you float rather than swim. Keep the water away from your eyes and avoid shaving the day before, and you will love it.
